Why customers trust some businesses before they've ever bought from them
Trust is often perceived as something that is earned over time. In reality, trust begins long before a customer has any direct experience with a business.
It begins with perception.
A website that feels outdated, inconsistent messaging, poor photography, or a lack of attention to detail can create uncertainty within seconds. Customers may never consciously identify the reason, but they feel it.
The opposite is equally true.
When every touchpoint feels intentional, professional, and aligned, people naturally develop confidence in the brand behind it.
Design does not create trust on its own. Trust is earned through actions, products, and experiences. However, design creates the conditions that make trust possible from the very first interaction.
Before customers believe in what a business does, they often need to believe in how it presents itself.
Trust, in many ways, is designed before it is earned.
